The former Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has weighed into the trending issue of the claims of plans to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta by his Deputy President William Ruto.
President Kenyatta is said to have told about 3,000 elders from the Mount Kenya region of the attempt by his deputy to impeach him.
While commenting on the same topic, Havi said that it is the LSK that made the call to the Parliament to have the president impeached for failing to swear-in 41 Judges in violation of the Constitution and Court orders.
“If I recall, the call to Parliament to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta was made by LSK. It was prompted by his refusal to swear-in 41 Judges in violation of the Constitution and Court orders. CJ David Maraga and CJ Prof Willy Mutunga SC supported the call. Kenyans deserve the truth,” said Havi.

On Sunday, while in his campaigns in Kilifi, the DP responded to the president, terming the claims as pure propaganda by his opponents to sabotage his race to the State House.
"Hata kama hamtaki kuniunga mkono, wacheni porojo na propaganda ya bure,” said Ruto.
Havi has expressed his interest in politics and will be vying for the Westlands Parliamentary seat using the United Democratic Alliance ticket, as the incumbent MP Tim Wanyonyi seeks the Nairobi governorship seat.
His term as LSK president ended on March 23, 2022, but he announced early retirement to allow the society to have humble time to seek his successor.
He is among the lawyers who went to the court to oppose the Building Bridges Initiative report, a case that ended at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
