Both UDA and the Azimio coalition claimed they had booked the Nyayo StadiumĀ  for their rallies.

The United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) will have to seek an alternative venue where they will hold their last mega rally on August 6.

This follows a communique by Sports Kenya Director General Pius Metto who informed the party that the venue they intended to use had already been booked.

Metto in a letter to the UDA secretary general Veronica Maina said both Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums have been booked from 5th to 7th August.

"We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sports Center- Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between 5th-7th August 2022, the facility will not available for your use. Kindly be informed," Metto stated in the letter.

It is not clear yet whether the Azimio coalition which had said they will hold their last rally at Nyayo Stadium has been locked out of the venue.

With Uhuru park under renovation, it will be another task for the political players to get alternative grounds for their last rallies.

Both Kenya Kwanza, led by Deputy President William Ruto, and Raila Odinga's Azimio had scheduled their last rallies at Nyayo stadium.

A standoff had been envisaged as both camps maintained a hardline stance that they had booked the venue for their activities.

All political players are expected to hold their mega rallies on August 6, before taking a break for elections.

August 6 will be the last day of campaigns as the law requires leaders not to hold rallies two days before elections.
