Moses Wetang'ula has resigned as Bungoma Senator-elect. The former Senator is eyeing the National Assembly Speaker post. 

Addressing the press on Wednesday, September 7, Wetangu'la confirmed that he had resigned as Bungoma Senator a day after the gazettement of his election. 

"The documents I have presented to the clerk include my resignation as a senator. Which resignation? I did a day after the gazettement of my election," Wetangula stated.

President-elect William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza settled on Wetang’ula and former Kilifi governor Amason Kingi as candidates for the National Assembly Speaker and Senate Speaker respectively.

In a meeting, the Ruto-led alliance confirmed Gladys Boss Shollei as their candidate for the National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Kathuri Murungi as their Senate Deputy Speaker.

On the other hand, Azimio la Umoja has settled on Kenneth Marende for the position of the Speaker of the National Assembly post. 

The Coalition has also fronted Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the Senate Speaker post. 

“Hon. Kenneth Marende to go for speaker of the National Assembly and Hon Kalonzo Musyoka to go for speaker of the senate,” Philip Etale, ODM director of communications, said.
