Treasury CS John Mbadi has announced that he will be taking a citizen-centered approach in crafting the 2025 Finance Bill.
Speaking during a public engagement in Mombasa on Friday, March 7, Mbadi revealed that the proposed Finance Bill will be published in the newspapers in addition to a detailed explainer on the amendments.
He added that the explainer will help Kenyans understand the amendments and how they will impact them.
Thereafter, Mbadi disclosed that he was planning on engaging Kenyans through Bunge la Wananchi forums in all the 47 counties.
At the forums, Kenyans will discuss the proposed bill, with the resolutions of the engagements presented to him at another meeting.

According to the CS, the final draft of the bill presented to Parliament will be a document that has the backing of Kenyans.
"When we publish the Finance Bill, there are two things that I going to do. First, before the Finance Bill is published, we will put in the newspaper an explainer for each suggested amendment. We will be explaining what it means.
"We will then have the counties discuss the Finance Bill, then we will have people from the 47 counties to come and have a sitting with me. They will tell me what they have rejected so that we can take to Parliament what we have agreed on," he stated.
Therefore, he called on Kenyans to take advantage of the engagement forums to express their views on the proposed tax measures
"I do not want a situation where after we have taken the bill to Parliament, then the whole country is up in arms," Mbadi remarked.
The new tactics are aimed at avoiding the protests that were witnessed in 2023 and 2024, where Kenyans lost their lives.
