The National Police Service (NPS) has dismissed social media reports claiming that Sadam Buke was abducted by the police.
In a statement on Friday, February 7, NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga clarified that Buke was arrested and is in police custody.
Nyaga noted that Buke is suspected of being a facilitator and coordinator of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) militia in Isiolo and Marsabit counties.
“The attention of the National Police Service has been drawn to information circulating on social media alleging that one Sadam Buke from Isiolo County has been abducted.
“We wish to clarify that Sadam Buke is in lawful custody alongside others. He is suspected of being a key facilitator and coordinator of Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in both Isiolo and Marsabit Counties,” Nyaga stated.

The NPS Spokesperson mentioned that Buke was apprehended during the ongoing mounted ‘Operation Ondoa Jangili’, being conducted in both Marsabit and Isiolo Counties, and he is expected to be arraigned in court alongside other suspects.
“We reiterate our commitment to comply with constitutional standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms,” Nyaga added.
The clarification comes after reports emerged online that Buke was abducted outside the Royal Acacia Hotel in Meru County on Thursday evening by unknown individuals and forced into a waiting Toyota Prado vehicle registration number KCV 498P. which then sped off towards Subuiga along the Isiolo-Meru road.
The incident is said to have been reported at the Kathare Police Station in Meru County.
