Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has issued an apology to Deputy President William Ruto following chaos that ensued in his office during the DP's visit on Monday, January 10.
In a video widely shared on social media, the DP was caught in a scuffle pitting local leaders allied to Barchok and former Bomet governor Isaac Rutto.
It was later established that the scuffle ensued when Isaac was denied entry to the governor's office where DP Ruto was holding talks with local leaders.
“On behalf of the people of Bomet, I apologize to the Deputy President for the embarrassment we exposed him to. This relates to the foolish competition we are having
"Our people are not happy and some have even lined up demonstrations as a message to us,” said Barchok.

The county boss also claimed that hired goons had been contracted to disrupt the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rally later that day but many supporters chose to keep calm.
"We are a peace-loving county. We haven’t had any incidences and our commitment as a county government is to always maintain peace. I want to thank the people of Bomet who also resolved not to retaliate any attacks," Barchok added.
Speaking at the rally, Isaac said he had only come to welcome visitors.
He also said he was unwaveringly throwing his weight behind DP Ruto's presidential bid and urged the electorate to also support his fresh bid for governor.
Ruto has resisted attempts by the DP’s supporters to force him to fold CCM, saying he will vie on the party whilst throwing his full support behind the Deputy President’s candidature.
