ODM leader Raila Odinga has fired back at Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi over remarks suggesting that the handshake has burdened Kenyans with punitive public debt and high taxation.
In a press conference, Mudavadi said before the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister, the national debt stood at KSh 4.5 trillion but it has since shot to KSh 11.7 trillion.
The ANC boss further noted that the handshake has subjected Kenyans to high taxation resulting in the high cost of living.
"It may be of interest to note that debt commitment pre-handshake was Ksh. 4.5 trillion and the post-handshake figure has ballooned to Ksh. 11.7 trillion.
"Was the handshake a license to burdening Kenyans with punitive public debt, punitive taxation, punitive food prices and a high cost of living?" Mudavadi posed.
Raila has since responded to the same accusing Mudavadi of taking loans and in turn misusing the finds while he was Minister for Fiance.
