Property of unknown value was destroyed by the deadly fire.

100 households were destroyed on Monday night, September 16, after a deadly fire broke out at Mukuru Kwa Njenga near Muhindi Mweusi in Nairobi County.

Confirming the incident, the Kenya Red Cross reported to have deployed its emergency response teams for rescue operations.

In a subsequent update, the humanitarian organisation disclosed that the fire was contained in a joint effort with Nairobi County Fire Brigade, Kenya Police and community-based disaster responders.

One individual received immediate medical attention at the scene of the fire, where emergency responders provided necessary care.

"Fire contained, thanks to the County Fire Brigade, Kenya Police, Community-Based Disaster Responders and Kenya Red Cross. Approximately 100 households have been affected and one person was attended to at the scene," the Kenya Red Cross remarked.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

The incident occurred just days after a devastating fire at Jua Kali Green Corner in Embakasi, Nairobi County, which destroyed 24 homes, reducing them to ashes. 

Kenya Red Cross, in a statement on Saturday, September 14, said the fire broke out at 1:00 a.m. in the area.

Nairobi City County fire brigade and the Kenya Red Cross swiftly responded and managed to put off the inferno.
