I will instruct the public service to consider them for employment - President Ruto.

President William Ruto has stated that he will instruct the Public Service Commission (PSC) to consider young Kenyans with President’s Award certificates for employment.

Speaking on Thursday, October 17, during the President's Award ceremony at State House, Nairobi, Ruto noted that President Awardees should be considered for employability in the public service.

“I will instruct the Public Service to consider the President Awardees, especially the gold medal awardees, when it comes to employability of our young people. Listening to the awardees, they made a very passionate plea to us as parents in what we can do to secure the place of our children,” Ruto remarked.

The Head of State declared that the awardees achievements reflected the positive impact they had made in their lives and communities, and that their stories embodied resilience and determination.

"You have consistently demonstrated a willingness to step out of your comfort zone and face various challenges, including outdoor expeditions, and, in the process, developed valuable skills that will serve you well in future leadership and service," he stated.

President Ruto noted that the President’s Award Programme compliments Kenya's economic transformation agenda by fostering creativity and leadership.

"Through its commitment to preparing young people for the demands of the 21st century by fostering resilience, creativity, and leadership, the President’s Award Programme complements our economic transformation agenda and aligns with the National Human Development Strategy," the president explained.

The President’s Award-Kenya (PA-K) is a non-formal education and learning framework through which young people’s achievements outside of academics are recognized and celebrated.

PA-K was established by an Act of Parliament, President’s Award Act No. 30 of 2017, and it targets young people between the ages of 14 and 24.
