Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has appointed Senator Cleophas Malala as the new Kakamega county party chairman.
In a statement, ANC noted that the Senator will take over the county leadership and he will be in charge of operations and coordination of party activities.
"The outspoken Senator pledged to ensure that the party gains significant visibility and popularity as it strives to sweep all elective seats in Kakamega county and beyond," ANC announced in a statement.
The position was initially held by Lurambi MP Bishop Titus Khamala who defected to the Azimio La Umoja following ANC's partnership with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Reacting to the appointment, Malala promised to do what it takes to ensure that the Musalia Mudavadi-led party sweeps all elective seats in the region.
"Kakamega county ANC delegates unanimously endorse me, Senator Cleophas Malalah as the County Chairperson of the Party
"As a leader, I will strive to ensure that ANC sweeps all elective seats in the region," the Senator said.
This came hours after Malala hit out at MPs who defected from ANC, noting that their departure has no impact on the party popularism.
"We have had defections in our party as ANC, we have had members of parliament defecting to other political parties but we want to show the country that our party has not been shaken," he said.
