Sifuna was accused of advancing Gachagua's agenda within the Raila Odinga-led party.

Accusations against Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party secretary general and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna continue to pile even as he holds onto his stance against the broad-based government.

The latest to cast aspersions on Sifuna is Kileleshwa ward representative Robert Alai.

Alai, who was elected MCA on an ODM party ticket now claims that Sifuna is an agent of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua in the Orange party.

He asserted that Sifuna had been contracted by Gachagua to spoil the strategies employed by the ODM party and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to win the 2027 vote.

"My party ODM is wasting its chance to strongly negotiate with UDA in the 2027 power sharing agreement. Sifuna is an agent of Gachagua to ensure that ODM’s position is weakened and left with the short end of the stick as the inevitable power sharing agreement nears," Alai claimed.

The MCA averred that the ODM party had been poised to be handed a deputy president slot as President William Ruto's seeks re-election, but that Sifuna was spoiling the pursuit.

"First ODM was to have a strong submission for Deputy President. That seems to have slipped away as Kindiki has built a credible profile to give President Ruto no reason to doubt him as a reliable running mate in 2027. How will ODM dethrone Kindiki from this position? How?" Alai posed.

The ward representative is concerned that ODM is losing its bargaining leverage in the arrangements it would have otherwise won in.

For instance, as per his account, ODM was to negotiate a deal with the ruling party to have the Nairobi governorship taken by the Raila Odinga-led party in 2027.

Alai accuses Sifuna of standing in the way.

He also claimed the senator was working with the governor to sabotage the Nairobi MCAs, citing the recent impeachment plan against Sakaja that failed.

"ODM was to negotiate for Nairobi Governor. Sakaja and Sifuna have teamed as the incompetent duo to ensure that ODM is now not a reliable party to Govern Nairobi. When everyone has complained of Sakaja, Sifuna who has the primary responsibility of oversighting the Nairobi City County leadership, has gone quiet," Alai said.

"When MCAs wanted to impeach Sakaja, Sifuna hired the Methuselah of civil society, Cyprian Nyamwamu to blackmail the MCAs that if they try to impeach Sakaja, the county will be dissolved," he added.

He warned that unless Sifuna is ejected from the ODM secretary general post, the party would perform dismally in the next general election.

According to him, Sifuna lacks foresight and is incompetent to lead the strategies of the party.

The Nairobi senator has vowed not to be part of Raila's loyalists who have embraced Ruto's regime.

He currently is part of the Kenya Moja team, a budding political wing aiming at being the third force to challenge the political status quo.
